We have been spending today mostly wondering why the value of Rob Butler MP ’s interests puts him in the top 15 per cent of all MPs.

He has received £61,070 in “earnings” from Camelot UK Lotteries since the end of 2019, on top of his MP salary, for “media training”.

He has also received a one off gift of £5,800 from Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, United Arab Emirates, among other gifts and earnings from other companies.

We feel it is vital that our local MP, as our only representative in the national parliament, is able to focus on his role. Can he do that while taking on another job that is paying him over £5,000 a month, while many in Aylesbury are struggling to heat their homes?

Working families’ pay is falling by £1,300.

The cost of living has become a national crisis and working people are paying the price.

Everyone is feeling the hit from higher taxes and rising energy, food and fuel prices.

15 Tory Tax rises have led to the highest tax burden in 70 years.

Local people are working hard, paying more and getting less.

Meanwhile, Mr Butler is making extra money hand over fist for 14 hours’ work a month.

Do you think this is fair?

Labour will:

  • Cut VAT on home energy bills.
  • Save on energy bills now and in the longer term by insulating millions of homes.
  • Cut small business rates and support businesses through the cost of living storm.
  • Buy, make and sell more in Britain to create well-paid, secure jobs in every community.
